It is true that '2' and '4' would be very disproportionate. This fact introduces more uncertainty (Abby's opinion notwithstanding). So far this year just about every time there was a consolidation lasting a few weeks, the reversal took place in the opposite direction... which may not be a very "scientific" observation, of course, but... that's what kept happening until now.

Generally, the larger is the crowd which is looking at technicals, the less likely they are - as a group - to make money.
