Feb. 24--FORECLOSURE HOMES 26 PCT. OF SALES: Foreclosure homes accounted for 26 percent, or 831,574, of all residential sales in 2010, RealtyTrac, of Irvine, Calif., reported Thursday. The percentage in 2009 was 29; in 2008, it was 23. Pennsylvania and New Jersey's foreclosed sales were below the national average. In Pennsylvania, 11,067, or 11.28 percent of all residential sales, fit the category, with an average sale price of $120,767, or about 40 percent below what was paid for nonforeclosure homes. In New Jersey, 15.18 percent, or 11,312, of all sales were foreclosure homes, with an average sale price of $220,717, or about 37 percent less than nonforeclosed houses. Nationally, 512,886 bank-owned houses were sold to third parties, while 318,688 homes not yet foreclosed upon -- in default or scheduled for auction -- also were sold. The lion's share of these sales was in the "sand states." About 57 percent of all sales in Nevada in 2010, or 38,000, were foreclosure homes. -- Alan J. Heavens
