David,

There was an article referenced today that said "The Dell'Oro Group...
estimates that U.S. Robotics has just 12 percent of the installed
base of central-site modem ports." I'm not sure this figure is
correct, but if ISPs supporting x2 represent 70% of subscribers and
USR has considerably less than 70% of the modem ports, then the ISPs
must be using other equipment as well, right? Maybe the other
equipment will be upgraded to K56?

I don't know who will be first, but I've always thought any lead USR
had was relatively small (say 3 months). But first USR slipped their
schedule, and now Rockwell appears to have moved theirs up. And more
users are now aware of the standards issue, and maybe less anxious to
buy at this point.
