When the Braves moved to Atlanta, they put up a temporary chain link fence 10' in from the existing outfield wall until Aaron broke the record. Even without the fence Fulton County Stadium was known as "The Launching Pad" because of the way the ball traveled there. Elevation wise, it is the second highest stadium in baseball next to Coors field. Willie Mays, on the other hand, missed 2 of his prime years to military service and had to hit them out of cavernous Candlestick Park. If all things were equal, Hank Aaron wouldn't make a pimple on Willie May's ass!
