We measure CO2 levels and temperatures and plot them on a graph.



"We know there are some physical events that can mitigate the warming."
Without our CO2, the earth would be in a very slow cooling period.


"Precisely how did they prove this to be true that it makes the Earth warmer?"

Fourier showed that the atmosphere acts to retain heat, in the 1820's
Tyndall showed that CO2, CH4, and H2O were greenhouse gases, in 1859.
Arrhenius calculated the amount of warming caused by increasing CO2 in 1896.
Since then, we've been collecting the data.
