I think the hand wringing over "global warming" is misplaced because the real issue is that the human race is now using up the near totality of the world's fossil fuel resources in the blink of an eye, and don't have a clear replacement in view. Fusion could save us if we get it working, and in time - it's merely an extremely difficult techological problem (unlike combatting anti-Semitism for example, which is impossible.) I honestly think some of the people who are on this Global Warming problem would rather like the idea of the human race being forced to do without ready sources of energy.
