Perfect example of stepping in shit and coming out smelling like roses.

My boss in Illinois in the early 70's had the same kind of Midas Touch. His birthday was Feb 29th and we teased him about being 48 going on 196. He had a lot of strange pecadillo's, ie, taking 5 minutes to hang up his coat in his office. He would inspect it 6 different ways and adjust to hang just so. During the day he'd go to his wastebasket, bend over it and talk to the ghost of the keeper of his trash, say goodnight to the wastebasket, etc, etc all day. He was never married and doted on his nephew an niece. When his parents died and left him the family home, he turned it into a boarding house for other wierdo's like himself. Once had to go there on a Saturday and get a message to him. When I knocked on the door, a lot of noisy rustling about inside and some old fool in only his boxer shorts answered the door. My boss was quite frugal and had purchased an 80 acre piece of rural land with an eye to growing something. Anyway the State of Illinois killed that dream by buying 40 acres in the middle for a tee interchange of two Interstate highways. He was left with only 20 acres on each of two corners. He eventually sold or leased to oil companies, restaurants, a truck stop, and a large motel. He supposedly cleared from the entire deal about $80 million. He kept his job and boarding house home and may still be there for all I know. I left there in 1977 for Californicate and have never been back. Poor guy would be close to 80 yrs old now (oops I mean 300+ yrs old). Oh well..
