Datek --$1,000 a trade!
Taking the rest of the day off too. Could not access servers, called and closed most of my positions on 2 accounts at Datek. Have been a thrilled client for 2 years. When they are up and running they are the best-- lightening executions on the express servers. When they are down, look out bellow. I have talked to them and my sense is that they are in no hurry to devote the capital required to fix the problem. If you are a long-term investor and place a market order, then $10 a trade may be a good thing. If however the market tanks and you want to get out but cannot, that trade can cost you thousands and thousands; their phone lines are usually jammed and the market has been humming along quietly. I will keep some funds in the Datek accounts but will be looking for alternatives. I have too much money on the table at any one time and I have lost a great deal lately with Datek's lack of response -- I cannot afford them any longer. Watley looks interesting -- any Datek alumni out there using Watley? Please let me know your experience. Thanks.
