Damned if he didn't pick the most expensive one at the time. I forget what it was (not IBM, DEC, or any other obvious one). He just thought that, if it had gone that high, it would probably continue to go higher. Fortunately, his old man didn't buy it.

If it was really the most expensive stock, then the stock he picked was most likely Berkshire Hathaway. And if this was before 1997, and if you could have afforded to buy at least one share, he was right and it's too bad you didn't buy. (Anyone who bought in 1997 or later probably won't do too badly in the long run either.)
