A democracy is chaotic mob rule that is why the founding fathers decided on a Republic. A republic only works when there is enlightenment. A nation loses it's enlightenment it loses it's Republic. Or when the people realize the politicians are taking their money to give to other people to buy their votes. citizen chartseer
