Just jumped in (1.2K shares) at this big drop this week for the following reason: 1. Bullish insider view and upper trend with many buy rating. (from: thomsoninvest.net briefing.com:80/schwab/techs.htm quote.yahoo.com 2.ML down grade provide a good chance. 3. Networker weakness(low if not bottomed) For the News(since it's new to me) on Shanghai Bell, it's great deal with QUICK return: 1. Shanghai Bell is the #1 Switch system/PBX manufacture/ provider holding >50% of local supply share(6M lines of 12M line annual install base). Very strong PRC Ministry of P&T engagement and high profile in PRC government and public. 2. PC install base exploring: >40% YTY growth. Internet service providers # exploding including MNC(like Prodigy step in early this year) for very high margin($2-2.5 per hour charge for subscriber excluding phone charge) ISPs in shortage of equipment supply for certain lead time. All current ISPs (including mine)is upgrading equipment to provide higher speed service. 3. Subscriber growth rate > 500% per year(2 of my 12 classmates sign on in 2 weeks, others are looking for better ISP, my guess is 10 of them sign on by Q3 end.) No need to mention about population here(please just think about the number in cities:500M with half of them educated well). I'm in PRC and got real sense everyday and I'm in the IT industry as marketing) 4. Unfortunately I don't know what ASND can provide their product to get $ from this high quick demand in communication and ISP system(would appreciate if anyone can educate me via e-mail or on SI), but in partner with Shanghai Bell sure can bring them huge/quick return especially ASND can get sell products through Shanghai Bell in their huge installed system base and new contract. ASND defiantly got a smart and great deal from this partnership. By this, I'm even more confident on ASND's management and marketing force. What concern me is really general market correction further more. That's too bad for me but good for some new comers. If any smart broker (obviously not ML)learned the information for the deal in PRC like me, they may never down grade ASND anymore Good luck investing in ASND.
