R.S. reader & RocketMan: Q&A re uTorrent comparison support.rocketstream.com
07-31-2007: question from non-techi ...."Hi ...wonder if I can use rocket man in place of utorrent how would this work if I wanted to download multimedia with speed.....thanks... yazz"...
08-01-2007: RocketMan replied ..."uTorrent is based on BitTorrent's model of having data spread throughout the internet across multiple nodes. Its data transfer method is based on contacting multiple peers that contain the desired file already, and transferring chunks of the file from each of the nodes in parallel, then putting the file back together again on your box.
RocketStream is a point to point transfer solution designed to accelerate file transfer among known end points, where security and performance are important. It is not a public network and it is not BitTorrent compatible - by design.
If you have RocketStream software at both ends of a connection, and adequate bandwidth to exploit, RocketStream's acceleration technologies should allow you to fully utilize your available bandwidth, thus reducing file transfer times significantly.
Over consumer-grade broadband connections, PDP has shown to work most effective across DSL, Cable, and broadband connection under 45Mb/second.
Over long-haul connections such as those between North America and Asia, UDP can outperform PDP.
For example, a user in Japan is moving data to a node in the U.S. at this moment - the user is uploading from a hotel using RocketStream PDP (bypassing firewall issues). Using TCP, they max out at 1Mbps throughput. Using RocketStream, they are achieving 11Mbps, which is the maximum outbound speed provided to the user."... |
