I really do have three very Good children; they are the greatest kids on the earth IMHO. They will listen to me. They are seeking my advice sometimes more than I am willing to give it. They 'run' to do what I suggest (most of the time ). They think I am the greatest, tell me how wise I am many times.
That said ( and I can prove to anyone that posts here by references to past posts that I have a very very low opinion of myself ) I will pray for hours at times to the Lord and my prayers go -- like so-- if I can illustrate.
Lord. Spare my children. Spare their lives oh Lord. Spare their bodies oh Lord from sickness and diseases. They are so unworthy. The are so sinful. They are so unworthy of your blessings. Lord your word says that sin brings your contempt upon us, and that we are only worthy of judgement. I can only plead with you for them over the blood of Jesus. We are defenseless except for the blood. Lord we do not deserve your mercy much less your grace. Our mouths are full of bitterness. Our understanding of you is so limited. Our hearts are full of untruth. We live in misery. We have been so blessed by you but in return we disappoint you. Without Christ we have no hope. Lord , spare us .
And I'll go on and on......
Start lifting up your son like this and 'pray through', I always do the same thing when I'm praying for a healing.......I just cannot stand it when someone tells me I am a Good man. By relative terms on earth we may be good in other's opinions of us but to God we are so so pitiful and woefully inadequate..your son no exception.. he is also not good hearted.. again, he may be good hearted in the eyes of the world but our standard is not of this world. We must still meet the standard of a sinless, holy, righteous God and that standard is perfection.
Please please do not take exception with me, I am not judging your son because I have never met him. But we both know that God will judge him guilty of breaking every law in the Old Testament without the blood of the lamb applied to him.
You know all this, I know you know all, I have told you that I have a peace about this. God will be faithful to our request. Don't feel guilty about any of this, don't blame yourself, watch very closely what you say; confess salvation and grace daily; confess glory to God for all that he has already done, the improvement you see.
