Can a UPS introduce a 'variable capacitance' into the load to correct the power factor when loads become overly

I don't know how you could correct the power factor to extend the run time. But in one respect batteries and capacitors are similar. They both store energy. You could use a bigger capacitor to extend the run time or a bigger battery. As batteries have a much higher watt/$ energy storage ratio than capacitors designers naturally use bigger batteries to extend the run time.
