I thought about this problem- and I wondered, maybe there is a learning disability here? Frequently kids with problems have identifiable disabilities. If you can get him in to a recognizable category, there will be ALL kinds of help for him. The trouble is the aid money for these things tends to come in pretagged "pots" and you can't get the money for someone outside of the category it's earmarked for. Obviously there are both positives and negatives to this system- but it could be very positive for the young man you are trying to help. Look at Asberger's, ADD, ADHD- these seem to be some of the more common ones. It will definitely help him with his education, and permit him to get modifications if he needs them.
