A couple of years back I read in the Macon Telegraph where a fisherman got snagged (I guess he was using that spiderwire line that is just about unbreakable) and dragged in a pre-historic dugout canoe out of the Ocmulgee River. That, too, was near our Indian Mounds. Macon used to be a trading post for the Indians and settlers. Hunting arrowheads and civil war relics is a popular hobby down here. The only thing I ever dug up was a couple civil war bullets and a couple of mule shoes.
