Marc, I totally agree with your comments. Once you make a few successful trades, get a little confidence, it's hard not to place bigger bets - sometimes wrongly with core holdings.

Over the past year I've been playing the oil patch. Bought some oil service and E&P stocks at ridiculously low prices (when crude was at $8). Well, now oil is $28 and many of these stocks have doubled off their lows, and still are 50 to 200% off their highs from the last cycle. The positions I took at the bottom are holds until I perceive a top to this current cycle. But, along the way I've traded (in my own way) the heck out of these stocks. I knew I wanted to be in oils for the relative long-term, but didn't want to over weight my portfolio in such a volatile sector. Nice to turn the ebbs and flows into profits - fun too!
