The incident, which police described as a home invasion, was reported shortly before 1 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 3600 block of East Sahara Avenue, just west of U.S. 95. The resident was in his apartment when an unidentified man armed with a handgun forced the front door open, police said. The resident retrieved his own gun and shot the man, police said. Though the incident seems to be a clearcut case of self-defense, police will conduct a through investigation and send the results to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for what should be a pro forma review and a determination of justifiable homicide in self defense.
