Exactly Trump's position, and the one that ought to be taken. We need to be sure that we are not biasing the results by how we allocate the money. We could be buying our selves a multi-trillion dollar boondoggle before the research ever starts.

I think many who question the science see this as a considerable part of the problem.

These models need to be inspected by people who understand statistics and are not committed to particular outcomes. We've already got a damned mess in economics and this is just more of the same.
