China learns the lessons that tops-down socialist demands of a central bureaucracy on collectivist agriculture do not lend themselves well to ecological solutions. The old Soviet Union also is an ecological disaster zone. washingtonpost.com I wish the rest of the world would also be able to learn that. Planting grass or trees or whatever works is better than desertification. That is true for the local environment as well as for global warming. I hope China really wants to clean up their waste oil and that no local bureaucrat will be able to play dog-in-the-manger as we have seen in Charleston, Turkey, and who knows where else. Charles
