Bobby, company pensions aren't tied to much of anything as far as I can see. Just this year Pabst Brewing Co. in Milwaukee reneged on the health care provisions of its pension plans due to loss of market share for its products. Total loss of one's pension plan can often be only a company bankruptcy or buy-out away.
