Advanced Radio Telecom to file bankruptcy, lay off staff

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BELLEVUE, Wash., March 30 (Reuters) - Broadband service
provider Advanced Radio Telecom Corp. on Friday said
it plans to immediately lay off about 90 percent of its almost
200 employees, as well as file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
protection.
The company also said it will attempt to provide service to
its current customers for approximately 30 days, as they look
for other service providers.
Advanced Radio said that because of the continuing
distressed capital markets, it has been unable to complete any
of the financing alternatives it had been pursuing.
