first let me reiterate my thoughts from #reply-13869066 ... i.e, isn't it now time to uninstall/reinstall ensign's software? an addendum to this process would be to take extra care to prepare your hd prior to the install via scandisk and defrag and closing all background apps. perhaps you have had corrupt ensign files all along and all this auxilary diagnostic stuff is serving only to point you in that ultimate direction.

i did come across a few other items for you.

from the july 2000 pcworld mag, a topic we've touched on here, and differing opinions were voiced...

under the topic of 'computer lockups (pc hangs while windows is running)', open system configuration utility (start|run|msconfig|ok|startup tab). make sure windows isn't starting any processes twice.

also under same topic heading, look for device conflicts. right-click 'my computer', choose 'properties', and select 'device manager' tab. look for any components marked with a yellow circle and exclamation point.

that's it for now

:)
