I hope so too. I've always felt that Moorer was quite a good fighter, but frequently lost in the mid-1990s swirl. I've heard the idea put forth that Moorer was a greately underrated fighter in a period where Tyson was absent, Foreman was coming back, and both Holyfield and Bowe were at the top of the heap.

He did well against Jirov a few months back, but other recent fights with Tua and the younger Castillo are more revealing. Though being a southpaw is generally an advantage, the former champ had increasingly been relying upon a lucky punch to win his fights; if weight is any indication, he wasn't putting in the necessary time in the gym, either.

It's my hope that Moorer's new career follows the path of another former champion-cum-trainer, Buddy McGirt.
