That was my point. They came to Greenland and outstripped it's resources. It was not so much a matter whether there was a bit more pasture when they arrived than when they died out, they did not manage the resources they had nor did they cultivate any alternatives. They tried to live in Greenland as if they were on the Gulf Stream in Norway. They were maxed out in consumption, and so when there was some fluctuation they went through a collapse, not a decline.
