Glenn, perhaps the longs are now doing what many shorts do when the going gets tough--- they stay away from the message boards because they don't want to get more despondent. But there is no way that there aren't a lot of Amazon longs.

Look at the logic--a few months ago there were a bunch of longs. Amazon hasn't had any stock buybacks recently (snicker). So who exactly did the longs sell to? Longer longs?

That, of course, is the fundamental problem with momentum investing vs. value investing. There's no value in keeping the stock, and when the stock dips, there's no ability to sell.

Trust me, the longs are still long.

Yes, I'm back, it's around earnings time. I hadn't realized when I took my respite that we were so close to earnings. Of course, it almost doesn't matter anymore.

Did you read about the guy who parlayed $4500 into 2.3 million in a year, and lost most of it? He still took enough out to buy a house and stuff, but he kept most of it in. You know who paid for his house? The mutual fund owners who bought his stock and are now suffering mightily.

Perhaps the mutual fund owners are the 'longs of last resort.' Either way, someone always gets f***** when a stock with no earnings and no dividends goes to the moon.
