I2 The fear is that Yamaichi's practices were probably not all that atypical and many firms may have been doing many of the same things. I believe Yamaichi, in fact, was the oldest firm. The rise in the Tokyo market last week was in part due to Yamaichi and (like Yamaichi) other financial firms buying back their own shares at furious rates trying to instill confidence. Larry
