Barron's roundtable discussion one note on sunw. interview with Marc Perkins.... Q: Have you given up on your other short ideas from January? A: They went against me during the first quarter. The second quarter has been okay. Still, of the brokers I recommended shorting, only Charles Schwab has worked out okay. Merrill Lynch and PaineWebber were disasters. Fastenal's results were bad but the stock went up. CBS didn't work. One thing you don't do on the short side is sit with losses. On the long side, American Real Estate Partners is unchanged, in Advanta we made money, selling 40% of our stock at 40, and my hedged bets, in Sun Microsystems, Philip Morris and Loral Space & Communications look okay. I'm hanging in there.
