What I really object to is someone being stifled because they were telling bulls on a thread to short a stock...CENSORSHIP is not the answer...the day one believes that it is will be the day that they lose.
I agree, but this isn't a public forum. It's a private area that I paid $125 to join, and I agreed to join partly because the SI Membership Agreement set up rules of conduct that I and everyone else agreed to follow. If this were an airport, or a public street, or a public park, then anyone can say (almost) anything they want there. This place is different.
I short stocks like most rational investors, and I take heat from other SI members from time to time for saying so. But I try to give reasons why I do so. What I don't do is type over and over again "Short XXXX! Ha ha! Smell my gas!!!" and refuse to give any cogent explanation for my opinion when asked AGAIN and AGAIN by other SI members.
Assuming the guy really was kicked off (and didn't just get bored and stop posting with his probably free trial membership), I have no problem with that. There are plenty of intelligent, thoughtful people on SI who think Apple is a joke of a stock, and they're willing to say why (like that van wang guy, who at least tries to engage in discussion with Apple longs), instead of engaging in a near spam-fest and without abusing anyone else. I enjoy disagreeing with them -- maybe someday they'll convince me to short Apple again (which I've done in the past). |
