Krugman is the guy outside the box that keeps trying to get those inside to think outside. Plus, he's hyper brilliant. So I read him, not necessarily to agree with him (though, of course, I do on a lot of things), but, more importantly, because he jogs my brain cells into overtime work. And I like that.

There will be plenty of time to put together a health care package. . . .

I think Krugman is right on this one. One of the big, acknowledged problems on the first couple of Clinton's years is that they didn't move on the health care stuff quickly. I would love to see the full health care package right away. First 100 days stuff.

The mantra is, "George Bush left the country in a terrible shape and we're going to fix it." That won't last long.

Fixing health care is also a very important way to fix the economy. So it's a win win.

Without it, health care costs are going to soar even more than now predicted because folks without health care use the emergency room. Which is more expensive.

There are, of course, humanitarian and social justice concerns as well.
