Well debates that compare religions ALWAYS turn into that. There is certainly nothing wrong with analysis of religious doctrine, but it is easy to turn that corner and begin demonizing everything you see in that poorly lit and mysterious other camp.
Social comparisons always start with a 'better than' perspective and generally end up with a 'no toleration of' perpective.
There are certainly horrific acts being committed by Muslim leaders, their groups, and Individual Muslims in the world, just as there are a number of rapes, murders, and other types of heinous crimes committed in the cities of America on a daily basis; and there is conduct by American non-muslim leaders, their followers, and individuals that is disgusting occuring every day. However judgemental conduct toward any large group of diverse human beings is unjust, and harmful.
The push to win for your side, especially when it is for social authority or membership, can be a dangerously immoral path to start down. IMO |
