For those so interested, this morning's NYTimes offers several helpful articles. Ones I found worth a read.

The first is an article on the deteriorating circumstances in Haiti. Its largely drawn from an interview with a previous Bush administration ambassador. He argues that his efforts to promote stability and democracy were undermined by efforts from within the Republican Party establishment. When he asked the Bush administration folk to stop them, the request went unanswered.

One can easily argue this pattern persists across Bush administration foreign policy initiatives.

A second article focuses on attempts to keep James Hanson, the top climate expert at NASA from speaking publicly about his concerns. Here, too, the pattern, across government agencies is clear and disturbing.

A very long, and, at least to me, fascinating article on the upcoming Enron trials. I read the NYTimes author's book on Enron, one of the genuinely exceptional books on business I've ever read. This article brings it all back to mind and updates what's happened.

Also, Gretchen Morgensen has an interesting piece on how board directors should bear more of the brunt of legal action in Enron type situations. I can offer the link but, because it's a columnist's work, it's behind their Times Select wall.
