OT RE: Searching SI using Google

Though Google is considered the gold standard in search, I
have found that using a Google site-specific search to get around SI's search inadequacy is not particularly helpful.

For example, a simple full-text SI search on the word "synapse" yields 24 reverse chronologically ordered hits between 9/21/02 and 4/27/03. The same search in Google using "synapse site:www.siliconinvestor.com" in the searchbox yields only two results: 6/8/02 and 2/23/03.

While it is true that Google appears to have certain advantages, such as the ability to exclude certain words or phrases, the highly selective and idiosyncratic nature of Google's almost black-box search algorithm generally makes your suggested workaround less than satisfactory.

I suppose we will just have to wait and pray for SI's own search renovation.
