Kash, <Intel shipped 12-13M Cumines. 5% would be 600K plus.>

Where did you get the 12-13M Coppermine number? And where did you get that 5% binsplit figure?

<So why are FOLKS not willing to state the facts: INTEL is having yield or manufacturing problems. Despite all the sugarcoating and BS from the Intel fudsters.>

Look, if Intel really was having manufacturing problems, frankly I'd be the last to tell you guys, even if I knew about them. Of course Intel is having problems. They're having problems trying to meet demand!!! Whether that's due to manufacturing problems, or an underestimation of demand, we don't know. Either way, it's not a nice picture.

All I'm saying is that people tend to overblow things like crazy to point where they assume AMD is making millions of high-speed processors, and Intel can't even crank out a handful. I know Intel is having problems. But the problems aren't as severe as the AMDroids are exaggerating them to be.

<Microssoft/GTW/ROW has complained about poor INTEL CPU availability as lowering growth and revenue.>

This coming from the company that calls the browser "part of the OS" and even has to fake a demo to try and make their point in court. Now even they fail to blow away estimates, but they see Intel as a nice scapegoat. "Hey, let's blame it on them!" Could the fact that customers are timid about Windows 2000, combined with the strong show of support for Linux, be other factors? Nah.

Makes me wonder how Intel ever managed to get the Pentium III chosen for Microsoft's ill-fated X-Box.
