Joe, the press/media is always gonna report rumors - as well as the news. The old saying "Buy on the rumor, sell on the fact" didn't come about for no reason. AOL stated that it doesn't comment on "market rumors". I don't think any press releases stated for fact that AT&T is putting money on the table for AOL to take. It is speculation - but the media is having a field day because the speculation could be warranted (there have always been rumors floating around about a possible buyout).

While I don't necessarily agree with the media presenting the information they way they do, I'm happy that they are at least reporting it. Besides, if AT&T or AOL comes out with a concrete "no such deal" I'm sure AOL will drop a few points - make bears happy.
