AMD -- Semicndtr-Brd Line -- Technology
07-Apr-00 10:37:29 Advanced Micro Devices has reversed its early losses to gain $2 7/8 to $73 13/16 on the heels of yesterday's 2 5/8 rise. Upbeat analyst notes continue to propel AMD higher following the company's announcement that it expects 1Q sales to surpass $1 billion.
This morning, Gruntal & Co raised its 1Q earnings estimates on AMD to $0.62 from $0.48 and raised its intermediate price target to $85 from $60 following a series of upward earnings revisions from analysts yesterday. AMD's positive earnings pre-announcement has lured momentum investors back into the issue, sending the stock over 20% higher in the past three session. Notably, the positive momentum has helped AMD break out past its brief consolidation period in the upper $50s/low $60s. In the pre-trade market, I-Watch illustrates a few sellers looking to cash in on the recent gains. While the supply has not considerably offset the strong demand, AMD is facing resistance as it nears the record high of $74 1/4, hit yesterday. Block trading data
