TORONTO, July 3 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY:TSX-VEN)("SAMSys"),
a world leading provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware
solutions today announced the appointments of David P. Armstrong and William
J. McClean to its Board of Directors. Mr. Armstrong is Senior Vice President
and Global Director, RFID of BTG plc and Mr. McClean is Vice President,
Manufacturing, Development and Marketing Operations of IBM Canada.
"I am delighted that David and Bill have joined SAMSys' Board of
Directors. Their combined knowledge and solid track records in business and
commercialization of emerging technologies will represent an enormous asset to
SAMSys," says Cliff Horwitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SAMSys.
SAMSys also announced today the resignation of Joanne Horwitz from the
Board of Directors.
"These board appointments will further strengthen the management team of
SAMSys. Both of the new appointees are recognized business leaders in their
respective fields and their experience will assist in providing strategic
guidance to allow SAMSys to maintain its aggressive growth within the RFID
industry," continued Horwitz.

David P. Armstrong
As Senior Vice President and Global Director, RFID at BTG, Mr. Armstrong
has been responsible for commercializing BTG's RFID technology offerings. At
BTG since 1990, he has held senior management positions including Director of
Strategy, Alliances & Marketing, and Senior Vice President and Director of
Electronics & Telecommunications. Mr. Armstrong has vast experience in all
aspects of identification, development and commercialization of intellectual
property.
A Chartered Engineer and Chartered Physicist, Mr. Armstrong holds a
Masters in Business Administration from Henley Management College (Degree
awarded by Brunel University) and a B.Sc., Electronics Science, University of
Southampton.

William J. McClean
As Vice President, Manufacturing, Development and Marketing Operations at
IBM Canada, Mr. McClean is responsible for Manufacturing and Development
operations in Canada, including guidance on product mission alignment,
operational competitiveness, new site proposals and government relationships.
He is also responsible for a number of Sales and Services operations including
IBM Canada communications and advertising, business transformation, customer
relationship management, quality, real estate across the country, procurement
and the Canadian Distribution Operation.
Mr. McClean is a past Chairman of the Alliance of Manufacturers &
Exporters Canada Board of Directors. He sits on the Advisory Board, Centre for
Advanced Technology Education, Ryerson Polytechnical University; is a Director
of the Strategic Microelectronics Consortium, is a member of the Secretary of
State's (Canadian Sport) Technology Committee and is on the Committee of
Ontario Deans of Engineering Advisory Council. Mr. McClean is also a member of
the Canadian Microelectronics Corporation, a member of the Advisory Committee
of the Ontario Centres of Excellence and is on the Prime Minister's Advisory
Council on Science and Technology.
Mr. McClean holds a Masters in Business Administration from the
University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial
Engineering from the University of Toronto.
