On the Android activations, Steve said, "I think they are counting upgrades." He didn't say he knew it to be a fact. As for the demos of other phones experiencing signal attenuation depending on how they were held, those are all legitimate. There's a ton of evidence on the web to support that, including pages from the manuals of some smartphones that specifically warn users not to hold them a certain way. I think it's highly unlikely that Apple, as a company, would knowingly make a completely false statement to the press. They're not stupid, and it would be very easy to catch the lie if this throwing star story were actually true. You, of course, are free to believe or disbelieve whatever you want.
