Interesting. I hadn't thought of the effect of XX chromosomes on the welfare state. New Zealand was about first in the world with a welfare state and was first in the world for women voting. Hmmm, the data is consistent with the hypothesis.
Women tend NOT to vote for Act New Zealand [right wing party]. I'm not sure what the split is between National and Labour, both welfare parties, though Labour is more so.
A while ago, I decided that the essential split in politics has moved from the balance between lords and serfs, to property owners versus landless, to companies versus workers, to state versus the individual, and now to feminine versus masculine. In New Zealand, the feminine is ascendant with all significant position held by women, from the Queen on down through Governor General, Chief Justice, Prime Minister, Speaker of House, Telecom boss, etc.
When Hilary Clinton becomes Potus, the trend will be set in the USA too [as usual, following not too far behind NZ]. I'm not yet sure whether the trend is good or bad. It can't be worse than the 20th century carnage thanks to blokes like Stalin, Mao, Adolf, Pol Pot and swarms of other totalitarian murderous alpha male dictators.
