I had experience with dumping unwanted chemicals in my first job with Philco....we dumped silicon tetrachloride into a lagoon..when it hit the water it produced a cloud of HCl.....alternatively we dumped it right onto the ground and in addition to the HCl it produced it soaked right into the ground producing SiO2 clumps (very inert).

Wow, a public confession from a toxic polluter.
