I read a comment on Free Republic that makes sense - Rush just can't think apolitically - he told ESPN that he could talk about sports without introjecting politics but he really can't. Regardless of whether the comment about the quarterback is fair or unfair - it's political.

Now here is my comment - Rush has a very large audience of adoring fans - of which I am not one - but I like him OK. He's used to adulation, and he's used to arguing about politics, and he's not used to giving sports commentary anymore. He was on thin ice until he established himself as credible among the rest of the world - and he blew it too early. Back to his well-established niche.

Cross-over isn't easy. Very few manage it.
