Been looking at some of the TCI news releases to see if LSI has a shot at that big contract. Pulled this:

select specific hardware, software and service vendors, taking
advantage of the well-known interest of technology and computer
industry participants. As we continue our discussions and selection
process, we can anticipate a series of announcements in the upcoming
months as those specific relationships are established.

Not sure what to make of "major consumer electronics partner" but like the rest of it as the integration thing plays very well into LSI's hands.
high-speed Internet access [LSI has]

network games, [end of PlayStation?]
impulse transaction capabilities, [???]
data and e-mail [@HOME?]
Internet voice and video applications [LSI weak?]
Also TCI knows the game - make it cheap - and LSI knows and likely has delivered well there in the consumer elctronics area (or they would not be rated so highly). This will be a defining contract for LSI because it will either show that they are really ready for the big big time in consumer electronics or instead are destined to always be the 4th place finisher - out of medal contention.
Come to think of it the Gresham fab would be perfect timing for the TCI chips...
