I really think that we have reached a point where everything is in place and we are only waiting for the events to play out. Certainly, inteL can surprise (as it has often done in the past) and AMD can stumble very badly (as it too has often done in the past), but though either could subvert the outcome that I expect, I do not think that it is going to happen this time. Most ANALysts seem to still think that this is a likelihood. Perhaps they are receiving guidance of surprises from inteL. I really do not know; but, obviously, I do not think that, that is the way that events are going to play out.

Looking to the end of this quarter I have trouble seeing revenues from CPUs of less than $700 million (and it could be a good deal more). Revenues from phalasch and everything else will almost certainly exceed $500 million . So, AMD is going to show significantly over $0.50/share pretax operating earnings this quarter. What can this mean ? Some may say that it shows that I have lost touch with reality (maybe I never was in touch.)

If, as events unfold, it appears that I am correct, I probably will post a good deal less often. In a sense, AMD is about to become much less exciting. It is just going to (eventually) start going up. Things may get much more exciting for inteL. iTs server cash cows are going to start to vanish. It is also going to start to lose the high end of the consumer market. inteL is not geared for the lean times that it is going to encounter.

Interestinger and Interestinger.
