BC, those wildfires are pretty severe. We Californians are used to dealing with them every year, but the ones happening in Napa and Sonoma are pretty bad even by our standards. They came swiftly and almost without any warning.

Even the air quality here in the south Bay Area is pretty bad. I can smell the smoke, and this morning I even saw some ashes fall from the sky. This despite the fact that I live at least a 90 minute drive from Napa and Sonoma.

As for the failure to send out the mass alert, that's pretty stupid. I've gotten mass alerts on my cell phone for issues that affect fewer people, such as Amber Alerts. Such an alert can be heard throughout the office, almost like a fire alarm as every cell phone goes off simultaneously.
