I saw my kids do thing to other kids I did for them. Luckily it was mostly nurturing behavior. Unfortunately my son imprints on whoever is around him, because he has a disability that is somewhat like autism, and he doesn't cue socially the way other people do, and he never picked up on gender differences- so when he was very small, he would act just like a mom to other kids, which made him popular with other mothers, but not very popular with other kids- unless they were upset (in which case he would be patting them on the back, saying "It's ok honey"- which sounds kind of odd coming from a 3 year old)

I had to learn to adopt a lot of guy mannerisms for him to copy- for example, waving. I was shocked when I realised he had that multiple little flapping wave of a girl (my wave) and I began to adopt a simple raised hand wave, which I notice guys use, IF they wave at all- so now I think my son uses that. But I have to be really careful to catch those things- because my son would never notice, and his peers would, and they would tease him (more than they already do).
