Business Ethics

Here’s what I’ve learned:
Life taken through cruelty is non-refundable,
even if I retain my receipt.

I’m led to wonder—
What have you learned?
Are you deaf to the whispers of
bad business?
Murmurs have morphed into screams.
Now your farms aren’t the only places
cries depart from, the streets have found a voice.
Humanity begs you for
a trace of humanity.
Force yourself to see through
tiny, confused black eyes.
Feel.
And as feeling makes its hurried spiral
from your stomach to the back of your throat,
allow these much needed words to pass your lips:
“Change is here.”

We’ll all breathe easier.
