Some of most favorite childhood memories are of myself exploring wooded areas all round my home. We always made forts from fallen tree bows, climbed trees and rocky hillsides.

Whenever I was depressed or sad I hiked off and discovered and explored. I found beaver dams and picked wild blueberries and wild strawberries.........ran into bears in the berry patches and forged new trails down mountains. I also rowed a boat halfway across Lake Champlain as a 9 year old when I learned to waterski.

It's sad to think that kids can't do those things today.............not in most areas. We never worried about child molesters but we also didn't need to lock our doors. I remember leaving the keys to my car in the ignition all the time and never worrying about having it stolen.

When I moved to Ca I had a hard time adjusting to the new rules..............I s pent a few months where I locked myself out of my apartment and car on several occasions until keeping my keys in my purse became a habit.
