That's pretty sad. But it is so typical of life in America these days. Children are rampantly overscheduled, sports teams for the really young ones are taken so seriously that parents fight at games, more material possessions than anyone could really use in an appreciative sense spill out of rooms and homes, teachers are reporting that kindergarteners can no longer engage in imaginative play, and there is no time for quiet contemplation and dreaming. Everything is so overdone that children cannot be children, basically. Too bad for them, because they are our future, and too bad for us, for losing touch with what childhood is for. The whole society is spinning out of control as children are affected.
