There's clear evidence that the committees exist for the sole purpose of giving information to the White House and not to the American people. We're not talking about national security so there's only one reason to have these hearings behind closed doors - to protect the republican party and the guilt of their leaders. Anyone who thought republicans could put country before the party was deluding themselves. Even during Watergate republicans did everything in their power to protect Nixon even after the smoking gun (voting against impeachment in the Judiciary Committee). We haven't seen a real American in the republican party in decades.
