Roy, here's my two cents on the Green man:

I'm one of the "we" you referred to.

Greenspan has done an outstanding job of balancing all the balls in that unpopular job. His position is always under scrutiny and receives little recognition and stands to be made the scape goat for bad Presidential and Congressional leadership.

He is highly regarded and respected by Washington and Wallstreet. If he resigned from office the whole market would go into shock.

Greenspan know full well what he is doing. He would never make a comment about the markets being too high if he understood that another issue was driving the economy towards disaster. When inflation was a problem in his early years on the job he hit at the issue, government spending, protectionism, and industry productivity issues.

The stock market must be up over 300% since Greenspan took the job. For many that's meant the difference between a comfortable retirement and working until they die!

"Four more years!" The only problem is the historically during the first year after the election the Fed usually tightens. Maybe not this time.

Regards,

gw
